Draowantedtorollhiseyes,tellPottertobuggeroff,but…heknewwhatPottermeantandifhewasbeingho,theofferwasratherintriguing.Butouldhereallyriskit?TherewasareasonhehadmostlyavoidedPotterallthoseyears.

Draostoppedmoving,hismouthgoingdry.

Was—Wasthis—WasPotterasking—No,thatwasn’tpossible.Themorepusibleexpnationwasthathesimplyneededadrinkingbuddy.

DraowilledhisheartbeattoslowdownashefoundPotter’sgazeandheldit.“IguessIouldspareanhour,”hedrawled.HetriedhardnottoreattoPotter’sgrin,butfailed.Heouldfeeltheornersofhismouthliftingupwardswithouthispermission.
“Huh.Idon’tthinkI’veeverseenyousmileatmebefore,”Pottersaidquietly.BeforethesmilediedonDrao’slips,Potterleanedforward.“Ilikeit.”
ItwasasthoughanerumpenthadsuddenlybeenletlooseinDrao’shead,stompingoneverybrainellthathadsurvivedPotter’sridiulousrevetion.
“Alright,IthinkI’dbettergetgoingnow,”Pottersaid,alreadyrisingfromhisseat.“bsp;Iuseyourfloo?”
Draonodded,numbly.Heledthewaytotheparlourandwordlesslygesturedtothefirepe.
“Right.”Potterpaused.“I’llpikyouupatseven,okay?”
Draonoddedagain.Itwasridiulous,really,thatPotterhadtheabilitytorenderhimspeehlesslikethat.HewathedPotterashetookapinhoffloopowderandsteppedintothefirepe.
“Seeyouthen,”hesaid.Andrightbeforehevanished,hesmiled.
HowPotterhadmanagedtoturn‘Drinks,justyouandme’into‘Dinner,justyouandme’,withoutDraonotiing,wasarealmystery.Hehadsaidsomethingalongthelinesof,“Wouldyoumindifwegetsomethingtoeatfirst?I’mreallyhungry.”
Clearly,Potterhadpnnedthisallalong,sineheseemedtohavemadereservationsattheMugglerestauranthehadhauledDraoto.Theonlyquestionwas:Why?Hedidn’tseempartiurlyhungrynow,pushinghissteakfromlefttorightonhispte,insteadofeatingit.
“Isitnotgood?”Draoasked.HewathedarefullyasPotterbithislip.Healmostlookedlikeahild,whohadbeenaskedtoeatalltheirvegetables.Hismouthwasinatightlinewhileheslowlyutintothesteak.Thebitehetookwassotiny,Draowonderedwhyhebotheredhewing.Drinkinginhisstrainedexpression,Draodeidednottoommentonitandturnedhisattentiontohisownmealinstead.Still,Potter’sbehaviourwas…odd.Hehadbarelysaidawordsinetheyhadenteredtherestaurant.
Theyontinuedeatinginsileneandwhenthewaiterametolearthetable,DraonotiedthatPotterhadbarelyeatenhalfofhismeal.
“So,wherearewegoingfordrinks?”Draoaskedastheysteppedoutoftherestaurant.
“Atually…”Potterhesitated,shovinghishandsintohisoatpokets.“I’m—I’mnotfeelingsogood.”
“Oh.”
“Wouldyoumindifwegoanothertime?”
Draokepthisfeaturesimpassive,eventhoughdisappoibubbledupinsidehim.“Ofourse.”
“Thanks,”Pottermutteredandturnedonhisheels.“I’llowlyou!”
